Wine Tasting – Thursday 9th March 2017

The first JLD event of 2017 is  a Wine Tasting evening at Harper Wells, 60-64 Ber Street, NR1 3EW on Thursday 9th March 2017.

 Tickets are only £12 per person which will include 6 samples of wine (red, white and rose) from all around the world, a glass of something bubbly on arrival, and a selection of cheese, olives, bread and nibbles. Please arrive by 5.30pm for a 6.00pm start.

Tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis. To reserve a place, please email Kate Melton (Kate.Melton@howespercival.com).

Christmas Quiz! – Thursday 1st December 2016

The annual NNJLD Christmas Quiz will  be taking place this year at BrewDog, The Hogshead, 1 Queen St, Norwich NR2 4SG on Thursday 1 December.

Tickets are only £5 per person, which will include a quiz with prizes, a meat and cheese board and a free drink. Please arrive at 5.45 – 6.00pm for a 6.15pm start.

Teams should consist of up to 5 people, but if you do not have a team but still wish to attend, please let us know and we will try to find you a space!

Welcome Party – Thursday 6 October 2016 from 6:00pm

We are pleased to announce that the next NNJLD event will be the Welcome Party, taking place on Thursday 6th October from 6.00pm at The Doghouse Bar, Norwich.

Whilst this event is primarily a means to welcome new members to our ranks, it is of course open to current and new members alike – the more the merrier!

Tickets are just £10.00 per person, which will include an alcoholic / non – alcoholic welcome drink, entry to the buffet and live music from the infamous Pirate Joe.

Cocktails in the Sun – Thursday 30 June 2016 at 7:00pm

We are pleased to announce that our next event will be drinks at Revolucion de Cuba, 7-9 cocktailsQueen Street, Norwich, NR2 4SG on Thursday 30 June 2016 from 5.30pm.

This event is free and there is no need to reserve places.

Come along and join us for some cocktails in the sun (we hope!) – happy hour is from 5.00pm to 7.00pm with 2-4-1 on cocktails!

NNJLD Annual Ball – Friday 22 July 2016 at 7:00pm

We are delighted to announce that the Norwich and Norfolk Junior Lawyers Division Annual Ball 2016 will be taking place on Friday 22 July 2016 at the Assembly House, Theatre Street, Norwich, NR2 1RQ. Arrive at 7pm for a 7:30pm sit down meal.

Tickets are £35.00 per person and will include the following:

  • Bubbly on arrival
  • Sit down three course meal
  • Tea/coffee and something sweet to follow
  • Complimentary bottles of wine for each table
  • Blackjack and roulette tables with complimentary fun money
  • Charity raffle and auction with all proceeds going to the Benjamin Foundation, this year’s chosen charity
  • Disco until 12am

Dress code is black tie and plus ones are welcome. If you have any seating preferences or special dietary requirements please let us know when reserving your tickets.

Norwich Legal Walk – Monday 18 April 2016 at 5:30pm

Calling all sporty (and not so sporty) members!!

The Eastern Legal Support Trust has organised the Norwich Legal Walk to raise funds for free legal advice charities helping those most in need.

The walk will take place on Monday 18 April 2016 at 5:30pm.

Commencing at the Forum, the walk will comprise 10 relatively easy-going km around Norwich with a load of other legal professionals (including solicitors, barristers and academics) and will conclude with a drinks reception at the Marble Hall.

The NNJLD has registered a team to participate and we need additional walkers and sponsorship from our members!

Come on – it’s for a great cause!!

NNJLD Employability Event – Thursday 31 March 2016 at 5:30pm

We are pleased to announce that you are invited to join us for a FREE seminar on ‘How to Make Yourself Employable’ followed by FREE food and drinks at The Lawyer on Thursday 31 March 2016.

  1. Our sponsors, Errington Legal (a leading legal recruiter in East Anglia) will be discussing the current legal job market, and advising on what candidates should be thinking about when they consider making a career move. They will be offering tips on how you can enhance your employability, and will of course be happy to answer any questions you may have.
  2. Jessica Piper from Ashton KCJ, and Norwich & Norfolk Law Society Trainee of the Year 2015, will be speaking on how to impress on your training contract and tips for being retained by your firm.
  3. Lisa-Marie Kennedy (Principal Associate) and Lucy Whipps (Senior Associate) from Mills & Reeve – covering what firms are looking for in junior candidates including how to impress on paper and at interview.

The event is designed to enhance members skill set in terms of employability, inform them of current trends in the market and how you can make yourself stand out from the rest.

The seminar will be held at Mills & Reeve, 1 St James Court, Whitefriars, Norwich NR3 1RU starting at 5:30pm and will last for no longer than 1 hour. We will then head to The Lawyer for some refreshments where the speakers will be present.

Tickets are only £10 per person which will include a hands-on cocktail making demonstration and two drinks vouchers for each attendee which will be redeemable at the bar.

Tickets are only £5 per person which will include a quiz with prizes, a buffet and a free drink. Teams of 4 people are preferable but this is flexible. Teams can be formed on the night for those attending alone.

untitled (10)We are pleased to announce that the next NNJLD event to take place this year is going to be a cocktail masterclass at Revolucion De Cuba 7-9 Queen Street, Norwich, NR2 4TL on Thursday 2 October. Arrive 5:30pm for a 6pm start.

Tickets are only £15 per person (usually £25) which will include a cocktail reception, a little introduction to cocktail making and then a chance to get behind the bar, make two cocktails and enjoy the fruits of your labour! The class will also include cocktail games and team building activities.

– Charity raffle (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) is this year’s chosen charity)
