NNJLD Committee Positions Available

We are pleased to announce that the Norwich and Norfolk Junior Lawyers Division (NNJLD) is looking for committee members, so if you’re interested in representing Junior Lawyers in the Norwich and Norfolk area, we’d love to hear from you! The positions that we are looking to fill are as follows:

  1. Website and Communications Representative
  2. Social Secretary
  3. National Representative and Regional Relations Officer

 

DESCRIPTION OF POSITIONS

Website and Communications Representative

Your main responsibilities will be to maintain the mailing list, advertise upcoming events via email, update the website and post content on our social media pages (Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn). As the role is IT based, previous experience working with websites and social media is desirable, but by no means essential as support and guidance will be given. Additional duties will include attending committee meetings and providing general support to the rest of the committee.

Social Secretary

Your main responsibilities will be to organise the various JLD social events throughout the year.  These include the Christmas Quiz, an event in or around February, assisting the Vice President with organising the NNJLD Annual Ball and a further event in or around September.  Previous experience coordinating and organising social events is desirable, but by no means essential as support and guidance will be given. Additional duties will include attending committee meetings and providing general support to the rest of the committee.

National Representative and Regional Relations Officer

Your main responsibilities will be to represent the NNJLD on a national level by attending national JLD meetings. Furthermore, it will be your responsibility to correspond and feedback to other regional organisations such as Norfolk Community Law Service and the Eastern Legal Support Trust. Additional duties will include attending committee meetings and providing general support to the rest of the committee.

All role provide in excellent opportunity to boost your CV and network with other lawyers in the region.

WHO WE ARE

The NNJLD is a local branch of the National Junior Lawyers Division (JLD) which is part of the Law Society. The JLD was set up to provide support, advise and provide information and networking opportunities. The NNJLD is your representative in the area and our National Representative attends national JLD meetings where the JLD implements policies on your behalf through lobbying and campaigning.

The NNJLD is a community for your needs and represents all student members enrolled with the Law Society, trainees, and solicitors with up to 5 years’ PQE. We also welcome members who are paralegals and legal executives. The NNJLD hold regular events for you to meet other junior lawyers, attend training events and voice your concerns and opinions.

HOW TO APPLY

In order to apply for a position on the NNJLD Committee you must be either an LPC student (current or past), a trainee or solicitor up to 5 years’ PQE, a legal executive or a paralegal (PLEASE note, you must be registered with the SRA you will be if you have completed the LPC prior to 2013/4 or you have voluntarily enrolled subsequently. Please note that the committee may request proof of registration before appointing you).

  • Your firm/organisation
  • Your current status e.g. paralegal, trainee, solicitor up to 5 years PQE, and
  • A brief description of why you are the one for the job
